Take time to bask in the cool island breeze as you watch the dramatic shoreline being bathed in a pallet of spectacular sunset shades. Jost Van Dyke This tiny island has more goats than people, and more visitors than year-round residents. North Sound of Virgin Gorda This large, 2-mile long, landlocked lagoon provides excellent anchorage to the east of Mosquito Island, behind the reef extending southeastward from it's northerly tip. There is a rock about 5 feet below the surface in the middle of the entrance, but it is clearly visible in good light. I set out in the morning with a group of friends, visiting from Chicago.

The lighthouse is supposed to be the oldest one in the entire Western hemisphere that is still operating. It is well protected, but the center of the bay is deep and the sand is hard.
